Fatal crash near Hamburg takes the lives of two men

 HAMBURG, La. (KALB News Channel 5 ) – According to Louisiana State Troopers, a two vehicle crash killed two men Thursday morning.

Troopers responded to the crash, that reportedly occurred on La. Hwy. 1 near Hamburg around 7 a.m.

Troopers said the crash involved a 2001 Toyota pickup, driven by 66-year-old, Leo J. David of New Roads and a 1999 Toyota pick-up, driven by 37-year-old, Michael B. Zaunbrecher of Mansura.

Troopers said, the 2001 Toyota was northbound on La. Hwy. 1 when David lost control and crossed the centerline into the southbound lane.  This resulted in the 2001 Toyota colliding with the southbound 1999 Toyota.  

According to Troopers, David nor Zaunbrecher were wearing  their seatbelts.

Both were pronounced dead on the scene.

Routine toxicology tests are pending.  

The investigation is ongoing.
