RPSO arrest man for attempted second degree murder

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 300 block of McKeithan Drive around 6:10 p.m., Thursday evening in reference to a disturbance.

Deputies located the victim that reportedly suffered stab wounds to the torso.  Deputies said the suspect had already fled the scene upon arrival.

 First Aid was administered to the victim until the ambulance arrived.  The victim was transported to a local hospital.  RPSO said that the victim was released Friday morning from the hospital.

According to RPSO, deputies identified 35-year-old Christopher Pearson of Alexandria as their “person of interest” in this case.  

Deputies reportedly located Pearson shortly after the crime.  It was said that the suspect struggled with law enforcement, before he was taken into custody.

Pearson is being charged with one count of attempted second degree murder, resisting arrest, criminal damage worth $500 or more, and possession of a legend drug.  He also is being charge with for drug paraphernalia.

Pearson is currently in the Rapides Parish Detention Center being held without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
