Pineville man pleads guilty to manslaughter

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5 ) - A Rapides Parish man entered a guilty plea Monday, July 8, to manslaughter  for the 2012 beating death of a Natchitoches man.

According to Natchitoches Parish District Attorney Van H. Kyzar, Christopher Shelton, 28, of Pineville, was arrested July 1, 2012, along with two other individuals, and charged in connection with the death of 28-year-old Bobby Arterberry.

The three men reportedly attacked Arterberry in his home on in Natchitoches the night of June 30, 2012.  The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital as a result of severe blunt force trauma to the head. 

Shelton will be scheduled for sentencing after completion of a pre-sentence investigation by the Department of Probation and Parole.

The remaining two co-defendants' cases are still pending.

Manslaughter is punishable by a sentence of up to 40 years in prison.
