Authorities arrest two men for money laundering and other charges

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – On July 12, Alexandria Police Department arrested two men, both for one count of money laundering, racketeering and stolen items.

Ali Jamil Salam, 48 and Raed Abdel Assaf,47 have both been change with one count of illegal possession of stolen things, one count of money laundering, and one count of racketeering.

Following a six month investigation, APD detectives in conjunction with FBI, Louisiana State Police, Louisiana Alcohol & Tobacco Control, Alexandria/Pineville Narcotics Unit and Detectives from the Rapides and Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Departments executed the arrest and search of several Alexandria locations.

One search was conducted at Ronnie's Food Mart at 3729 3rd Street

 Salam and Assaf were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for booking.

The investigation is ongoing.

No other details has been released at this time.
