Alexandria, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - The Louisiana Child Passenger Safety Task Force, the Hispanic Committee of the South, and Louisiana State Police Troop E are conducting a free child passenger safety booster seat check-up event on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 7:30 a.m.

The event will take place at the Chick-fil-A located at Jackson St.  in Alexandria, LA.

Louisiana state law requires all vehicle occupants, including children, to be properly restrained in all seating positions day and night.  According to Louisiana State Police, many injuries and deaths can be prevented by properly using child safety seats.

Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand  at the event to assist with the proper installation of child safety booster seats.

While supplies last, free booster seats will be given to caregivers for children meeting the following criteria:

  • The child must weigh between 40 and 100 pounds.
  • The child must be less than 4 feet 9 inches tall.
  • The child must be present.
  • One seat per child.
