ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA. (KALB News Channel 5) St. Landry Parish detectives' discovery of stolen equipment leads to arrest of juvenile.

A 16-year-old juvenile was taken into custody for the theft of stolen equipment according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena.

"Our detectives received information that there was property at an address on Flagstation Road that was possibly stolen. The complainant told investigators that he arrived at the property to look at a trailer that was on Craigslist. When the complainant noticed a scratched VIN number, he immediately called authorities," said Vizena.

Vizena said detectives recovered a 40 ft. goose neck trailer and an excavator that had both been reported stolen out of Lafayette Parish within the last two months. According to Vizena the juvenile had an electronic ankle bracelet after being arrested three weeks ago for multiple burglary charges within St. Landry Parish.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office and Lafayette Police Department will be handling the investigation from here.
