CenLa Race for the Cure kick-off event scheduled

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Kick-off scheduled to celebrate the 2013 Race for the Cure Season.

The CenLa  Race for the Cure Committee  will host a Team Captain Kick-Off to celebrate the opening of the  2013 Race season.  Join other team captains and participants on June 24, 6 p.m. at 1021 Jackson St. Coffee House to learn more about the 2013 Race for the Cure, get ideas for building teams and fundraising tips.  Refreshments will be served and  door prizes will be given out all while helping make an impact in the fight against breast cancer.

The 2013 Race for the Cure will be held Saturday, October 19, in downtown Alexandria.  Participants are encouraged to register early for the race and join thousands of individuals committed to raising funds to support the fight against breast cancer.

Louisiana has one of the highest breast cancer mortality rates.  The funds raised by Race for the Cure participants are awarded to local organizations to provide screening, education, and treatment for uninsured women in our community.  Without the communities support and fundraising efforts hundreds of women each year would go without needed screening and support.

Register today at www.komencenla.org and help make an impact in the Central Louisiana community.  Your participation can help save a life.  Early registration at a reduced fee is open until August 15.  Registration is just the first step. The second step is to invite your friends and family to race with you and make an impact in the life of someone right here at home.

Susan G. Komen's vision is a world without breast cancer. Komen's promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all, and energizing science to find the cures.
