Military exercises to be conducted in Louisiana and Texas

FORT POLK, La. (KALB News Channel 5)  - Military exercises will be conducted from July 18 through July 27. This is according to military officials at Fort Polk.

According to officials, these are routine exercises, conducted to maintain a high level of readiness.  The exercises have been coordinated with public safety officials throughout the towns that the training will occur.

Leesvile, Deridder, Pitkin, Port Arthur are  all on the list for the military exercises.  Texas towns Orange, Huntsville and Pearland are also on the list.

Soldiers from 20th Special Forces Group, based at Camp Blanding, Florida are conducting the military exercise with assistance from units at Fort Polk.

Officials also said, they will use every measure to reduce the amount of noise and inconveniences associated with these exercises. They also went on to say, these exercises  are the best method to maintain their readiness capabilities.
