Bunkie woman charged with attempted second degree murder

BUNKIE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - According to the Bunkie Police Department, they have charged a Bunkie woman with attempted second degree murder.

BPD said that on July 5, officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance around 3:30 a.m. The report came from a frantic 911 call that someone had been attacked with acid.

Officers responded to the residence and discovered a male subject suffering from severe acid burns.

An investigation reportedly determined that sulfuric acid was allegedly poured onto the victim.

Officers arrested Gwendolyn Kyle, 46, of Bunkie and charged her with aggravated second degree battery.

According to BPD, the victim is in an undisclosed location suffering from life threatening injuries.

On July 17, Kyle was additionally charge of attempted second degree murder. She was transported the Avoyelles Parish jail.  

 Kyle was also reportedly charged with attempted murder in 1992 with Evangeline Parish police.

Bond is set at $50,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
