VPSO find marijuana field worth $20,000,000

VERNON PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - According to Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, they have discovered a second marijuana field in the western area of Vernon Parish.

Agents said, on July 17, a two acre field was discovered approximately five miles from the first. Deputies reportedly discovered the first on July 14.

According to VPSO, agents gathered 13,080 marijuana plants ranging in various sizes. Agents said, the street value was approximately $20,000,000.

The discovery was said to be made by the Vernon Parish Narcotics Task Force, the Louisiana State Police, and the Louisiana National Guard.

The site was also said to be a camp site consisting of tents, assorted men's clothing, food items, cultivation hand tools, and other items used in the growth of plants. It appeared that four individuals were living at the camp site. VPSO said, they believe the individuals cultivating the marijuana growth was of Hispanic descent.

 The previous field discovered June 14 was said to consist of more than 6,800 plants. The street value of the plants was estimated to exceed $10,000,000, according to authorities.
