Crowley man sentenced for robbing Natchitoches U.S. Post Office

ALEXANDRIA, La.(KALB News Channel 5) – A Crowley man has been sentenced to  seven years in prison with three years supervised release for robbing a Natchitoches U.S. Post Office. This is according to the United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley.

Ricky J. Scott, 44 was sentenced Wednesday. 

On Jan. 23, 2013, Scott pleaded guilty to robbery of U.S. property. According to evidence, on August of 2012, Scott approached a U.S. postal worker who was alone in the post office. He pretended to purchase a money order.  Then he pulled out a weapon from his pocket, threatened the worker and requested money.

Scott took the money and fled the post office.  He was later captured and taken to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney D. Cytheria Jernigan prosecuted the case.
