Tropical Storm Dorian weakened today because of dry air entrainment and increasing shear. Dorian is located near latitude 17.8 North and longitude 45.8 West, or about 1135 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands. Movement is just north of due west, on a compass heading of 280 degrees, at 22 mph. The maximum sustained wind is down to 45 mph.
Dorian is expected to continue on a west or west-northwest course through the weekend and additional weakening is also expected.
