ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – A strong smell helps deputies identify two suspected of distributing drugs in the Alexandria area, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's office.

The RPSO said they were responding to complaints of drug activity in Alexandria when they arrived at the 3009 block of Levin Street on July 31. Deputies noticed a strong smell they believed was marijuana burning from the residence.

Deputies arrested the owner Ray Scott, 40, and charged him with possession of CDS I to distribute, possession of illegal length shotgun and illegal carry of weapons with drugs. They also arrested Randi Schweyher, 27, who also lived at the residence. She is charged with possession of CDS I to distribute.

Deputies said they located 36 bags of marijuana in various sizes.

Both were transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

Schweyher was released on a $5,000 bond.

Scott is set at $10,000 bond.
