APSO: seven have been arrested in connection to drug trafficking

SIMMESPORT, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -  The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office says they have arrested seven people in connection to drug trafficking.

According to Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office, they were dispatched on Thursday evening  to the Sportsmen's Hotel in Simmesport in reference to drug activity.

 The deputy said that upon his arrival he observed the subject having a party in a cabin. Through further investigation, the deputy searched the cabin and found a quantiy of crack cocaine. He also said it was packaged in a manner that was consistent for street saling.

Approximately $1400 in cash was also said to be seized from the cabin.

The arrests include:

Jarvis Thomas , 24 of Simmesport,  is being charged with two counts of possession of schedule II with intent to distribute, possession of schedule III  with intent to distribute, and possession of schedule I with intent to distribute.

Earnest Mason, 28, of Simmesport, is being charged with two counts possession of schedule II with intent to distribute and possession of schedule III with intent to distribute.

Brent Lacour, 43, of New Roads is being charged with two counts possession of schedule II with intent to distribute and possession of schedule III with intent to distribute.

Ronald Rowe, 25, of Simmesport is being charged with two counts possession of schedule II with intent to distribute and possession of schedule III with intent to distribute.

 Marvin Thomas, 40, of Simmesport is being charged with two counts possession of schedule II with intent to distribute and possession of schedule III with intent to distribute.

Arthur Robertson, 30, of Simmesport is being charged with two counts possession of schedule II with intent to distribute and possession of schedule III with intent to distribute.

Aundra Bennett, 47 of Simmesport is being charged with two counts possession of schedule II with intent to distribute and possession of schedule III with intent to distribute.

 According to Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office, five out of seven are on active parole and or probation and have extensive criminal records relating to past crimes of violence and narcotics.  

The arrestees were booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office.

Bond has not been set at this time.
