HINESTON, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – The Rapides Parish Deputies Office arrest woman over a package.

According to RPSO, deputies arrested Melissa Alston on July 31 for allegedly stealing a package.

Deputies responded to a theft report in the Havens Road area of Hineston. The complaint said they were supposed to receive a package by delivery, but it was intercepted by Alton before they could receive it.

During the investigation, deputies said they discovered that Alston had used the complainant's name and identity to get their hands on the package.

Deputies also said, they went to Alston's residence, where she was uncooperative. She tried to resist arrest, but after a brief struggle, deputies were able to take her into custody.

Alston was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.  She is being charged with theft of $500, two counts of contempt of court and resisting arrest.

She was released on $5,750 bond.

The package was recovered and returned to the complaint.
