Leesville man arrested for domestic abuse

LEESVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – A Leesville man was arrested for domestic abuse.

According to Leesville Police Department, they arrested Michael Johnson, 41 on July 30, after physically abusing a woman.

 LPD said they were dispatched to a residence in Leesville. The victim gave a description of Johnson over the phone and said he had left the residence on foot. LPD spotted a man meeting the description of Johnson while driving to the victim's residence.

Officers took Johnson into custody and then they went to the victim's residence.  Officers said the front door had been kicked in and physical battery was apparent. They also said that Johnson had been warned not to go to the victim's home by police.

He is being charged with domestic abuse battery, criminal damage to property and criminal mischief--remaining after being forbidden.

Johnson was transported to the Leesville City Jail. His bond is set at $6,500.
