PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5 ) - The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with the Helping Hands Ministries to help distribute box fans to citizens of Rapides Parish.

Helping Hands Ministries assists churches in distribution of toiletry items, paper goods and household items to those whose do sometimes need a helping hand.  They also distribute box fans to people who do not have any form of air conditioning in their homes.

Officers say they want to connect more with the community.

“These deputies see people’s needs each day and when Mr. Powell with Helping Hands came to us for our assistance, I thought this was a great idea to let us help get these fans to those who need them the most” said Sheriff William Earl Hilton.  “Our Community Police interact with citizens each day.  It helps us build a better bond with the community and that in turn helps us solve crimes.”

The box fans will be picked up by deputies with RPSO Community Police today at the Helping Hands Distribution Center.

Anyone that would like to donate a fan can do so by taking them to the Helping Hands Distribution Center at 186 Greer Road in Pineville or by calling 318-613-1548.
