PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – A plan has been reached with two Alexandria hospitals to take over services for Huey P. Long Medical Center in Pineville.

After many discussions and meetings, Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital and Rapides Regional Medical Center plan to take over the services of the hospital.

Cabrini intend to handle inpatient psychiatric care, but the hospital could share responsibility of urgent care and other inpatient care.   Outpatient care intends to be provided by community clinics.

According to LSU Health Shreveport, which manages the Pineville hospital, all services should be transferred on July 1. Huey P. Long will continue operations until the transfer is complete.

Gerald Gruenig is working on the full  story. He will have more in the evening news.
