UPDATE: Harvard Street house fire


ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -  A candle that was left unattended started the fire Thursday that burned a home on Harvard Street in Alexandria to the ground, according to authorities.

Five juveniles were inside when the fire started. All five were able to escape without injuries.

The fire was contained 20 minutes after the blaze started, but the firefighters remained on the scene for almost two hours.

The Red Cross is continuing to provide assistance to the family.




ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Five people are homeless tonight after fire rips through their home.

 The fire happened on Harvard Street near the intersection of Warshauer. It took firefighters around 20 minutes to get the fire under control. At this time, it is not known what caused the fire.

 There were no injuries and the Red Cross is helping the residents.

The investigation is ongoing.
