Blood For Boo

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) The Rapides Parish Sheriff's office held a blood drive Thursday for Little Boo Maddox.

Mobile Life Share Blood Centers were set up at the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office Motor Pool and on Johnston Street in Downtown Alexandria.

Nine year old Little Boo Maddox is currently battling complications from the H1N1 virus.

Blood drive organizers say the CenLa community is behind the Maddox family as he recovers from last month's kidney transplant.

"Little Boo is a part of our community. Our heart goes out to him and our prayers and our thoughts go to their family. He is having a hard time and he just received a kidney transplant from his mother and this blood drive is to replenish blood that he is using in Minnesota," said Lt. Tommy Carnline. Tommy Carnline.

"A lot of people came out Sunday at Little Boo's Country General Store in Boyce and also they have come to other blood drives we have had. They have gone into the center and also they have showed up tremendously out here and at the motor pool," said Kristen Scott.

More than 40 people donated blood Thursday in order to support Little Boo Maddox.
