Alexandria man arrested for burglary

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – A bike rider has been arrested for burglary, according to Alexandria Police Department.

APD said they arrested Lebaron Johnson, 32 of Alexandria on August 11th for one count simple burglary and one count of theft of a motor vehicle.

An officer spotted Johnson riding a bike in the area of Jackson and 20th Street around 9 a.m. The officer made the block and spotted Johnson sitting inside a vehicle.

The officer said that when he tried to approach Johnson in the vehicle, Johnson got out and left on his bike.

Johnson was later detained. The owner of the vehicle was contacted by the officer.  The owner said that Johnson did not have permission to be in the vehicle.

He was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

Johnson was also charged with an outstanding warrant for theft of a motor vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
