VERNON PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office says they have found a third marijuana field in the western area of Vernon Parish worth approximately  $22,200,000.

According to VPSO, this growth was discovered in a wooded area near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 8 and Highway 111 in the Burr Ferry area.

The marijuana field was said to consist of 14,800 plants covering an area of approximately two acres. The plants ranged in various sizes.

VPSO discovered the field on August 1 by Agents of the Vernon Parish Narcotics Task Force.

VPSO said they believe this is due to Mexican nationals and that evidence has been sent to Louisiana State Crime Lab. Through laboratory submittals a suspect has been identified through fingerprint analysis in the case of a previous marijuana field.

Warrants have been issues for the suspect. Additional warrants on other involved persons are expected.

The investigation is ongoing.
