Bomb Threat in Eunice Winn Dixie a Prank

(KLFY) - The search is over for the man authorities say was behind a bomb threat in Eunice.

29-year-old Corey Columbus Vasseur has been arrested by the Eunice Police Department, and has been charged with terrorism.

The incident forced authorities to evacuate the Winn Dixie grocery store in Eunice around 10:00am Saturday.

"Bomb on aisle three," is what a suspicious man said to a Winn Dixie store clerk according to Eunice Police.

The store manager did not take that man's words lightly.  He called the police and as soon as they arrived, evacuated the building.

As the word spread there was a bomb in the building, it took less than five minutes for 35 employees and 100 customers to clear the building.

Special bomb-sniffing dogs were called in and they too did not find any sign of an explosive device in the store.

Investigators looked high and low for a bomb, but Eunice Police believes the scare may have been the result of a practical joke.

But the joke is over, the suspect is in custody, and things are back to normal on aisle three at Winn Dixie.

The store has since been cleared, and will be open for business as usual.
