UPDATE: Names of hostages from St. Joseph standoff released

ST. JOSEPH, La. (AP) –Authorities have released the names of the victims involved in Tuesday's hostage situation in St. Joseph.

The hostage that was released by the gunman is said to be Patricia White, the one deceased hostage was Jay Warbington, and the hostage currently in Rapides Regional Medical Center is Ledean McDaniel. McDaniel is said to be in critical condition.

Authorities said a man who took hostages at a bank in Tensas Parish shot the two remaining hostages, killing one of them, before being shot and killed by state troopers.

The suspect was identified as Fuaed Abdo Ahmed, 20. Edmonson said during negotiations with law enforcement, Ahmed said he was going to kill the hostages. Law enforcement then entered the building just before midnight Tuesday. 

Louisiana State Police superintendent Col. Mike Edmonson said that's when Ahmed shot the two hostages in the upper body and then state police shot and killed him. Edmonson added the hostages were taken from the scene in critical condition and one of them later died.

Officials said the man believed a device had been implanted in his brain and the situation was a planned attack.

The gunman took two women and a man captive about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Tensas State Bank branch in St. Joseph. He later released one of the female hostages.
