NSU is helping CLTCC staff and faculty

NATCHITOCHES, La.  (KALB  News Channel  5) – Northwestern State University and the Central Louisiana Technical Community College signed an agreement to allow CLTCC faculty and staff to take classes at a reduced rate.

The CLTCC employees must be degree-seeking full-time employees who meet standard admission requirements to Northwestern State.  Under the agreement, CLTCC employees may register for up to six credit hours per semester of undergraduate and graduate courses.

The agreement is said to make it easier for faculty at CLTCC to obtain higher education credentials that Southern Association of College and Schools require them to meet. SACS is the organization that ensures the quality and effectiveness of its member institutions.

The agreement is valid for CLTCC faculty and staff who work at campuses in Alexandria, Cottonport, Winnfield, Jena, Leesville, Oakdale and Ferriday.

CLTCC faculty and staff will be able to utilize any of Northwestern State's 36 accredited online degree programs.

"We are delighted to be able to partner with CLTCC on this initiative.  The work that the college does is very important to Northwestern as this provides another avenue for Louisiana's students to be served," said Dr. Lisa Abney, provost and vice president of Academic and Student Affairs.  Individual programs, such as engineering technology, are also working with area technical colleges to create advantageous agreements, she added.
