An unusual weather pattern for August brought heavy rain to portions of central Louisiana.
Just about every reporting station received rain during the Wednesday-Thursday event. Jonesville measured six inches but Doppler radar estimates of 8-10 inches were noted south and west of town. Many locations in Rapides Parish also saw heavy rain, with River View getting 4.40; Lecompte and Woodworth saw four inches. In contrast, DeRidder reported that no rain fell there.
The clouds and rain kept high temperatures fifteen degrees lower than Wednesday's intense heat. Everyone I talked to said they enjoyed the relief.
The cold front will establish its dominance tonight and will usher in a three or four day period of comfortable weather.
