UPDATE: Hostage from St. Joseph stand off dies

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Laden McDaniel, one of the hostages from the St. Joseph standoff has died, according to a spokesperson from  Rapides Regional Medical Center.

She was brought to Rapides Regional Medical Center after the standoff and was listed in critical condition.

This is the third death from the St. Jospeh standoff.

Authorities said  Fuaed Abdo Ahmed, 20, took hostages at a bank in Tensas Parish on Tuesday. He let one hostage go and shot the two remaining hostages, killing one of them at the scene, before being shot and killed by state troopers.

The hostage that was released by the gunman is said to be Patricia White, Jay Warbington was shot and killed during the stand off, and Laden McDaniel was taken to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. She was listed in critical condition.

Officials said the Ahmed believed a device had been implanted in his brain and the situation was a planned attack.
