Forest Hill man arrested for allegedly attacking a woman, children in home

FOREST HILL, La. (KAL B News Channel  5) – A Forest Hill man is behind bar tonight for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and pepper spraying her children in her own home.

Detectives said they arrested Jaime Jorge Baez, 35, on August 15th, for coming into a woman's home and sexually assaulting her and pepper spraying her children in the face.  He was also said to have a knife and a handgun and was holding the woman and the children hostage at the residence for a brief time, before he took the victim's car and left.

The victim at some point was able to call for help.  Detectives and Glenmora Sub-station were dispatched to the home and learned this was not a first offense for Baez.

According to detectives, they  were able to locate Baez at a residence near Coliseum Blvd.  Deputies said they spotted the victim's vehicle at a residence. Baez was hiding in the residence.

He was taken into custody and charged with aggravated rape, false imprisonment, armed robbery, simple burglary, two counts of cruelty to juveniles, two counts of aggravated battery and aggravated crime against nature. He was also charged with operating a motor vehicle without lawful presence in the USA.

Baez also had previous arrest warrants for two counts of simple criminal damage, burglary of a dwelling, domestic abuse battery, false imprisonment and failure to pay a fine.

He was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center. No bond has been set at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
