LASALLE PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Suspect arrested in Texas will return to LaSalle Parish to face charges in assault investigation.

On August 13, deputies with the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the Nebo Quick Stop in Nebo, La. in reference to a woman locked inside the restroom and bleeding. Upon arrival, deputies said they were able to convince the woman to open the door and discovered that she was the victim of an apparent sexual assault. Police say the victim, whose name is being withheld, was transported to LaSalle General Hospital for medical treatment of the injuries that she had sustained in this alleged attack.

Police said it was discovered that the suspect in this case was a white male known as Bryan Heath Chevallier, age 27, of Rogers, La. A search warrant was issued for the residence of Bryan Chevallier, the alleged location that this incident had occurred. Upon searching the residence, LPSO Detectives said they found evidence that corroborated the victims account of the alleged assault. An arrest warrant was issued for Chevallier for the crime of aggravated rape and a search for him began. Police said LaSalle Parish authorities, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal's Task Force, searched LaSalle and surrounding parishes for Chevallier but were unsuccessful in locating him.

On August 16, Bryan Chevallier was stopped for a traffic violation in Newton County, Tx. and taken into custody on the warrant issued in LaSalle Parish. Chevallier remains in custody in Newton County, Tx. and is awaiting an extradition hearing and transport back to LaSalle Parish, La. to face these charges. LaSalle Parish Detectives said that further felony charges will be filed against Chevallier within the next few days.
