No Failing Schools for Avoyelles Parish

Posted: Updated:

AVOYELLES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5)- Avoyelles Parish schools are starting the year with high marks.

Superintendent Dwayne Lemoine says that the school board was informed two weeks ago that there are no schools in the district with an F rating. Lemoine credits the hard-working faculty and staff of these schools for the good news.

"The community stepped up to the plate. They valued education here in Avoyelles Parish and we really appreciate that and we saw the results of that last year. I think our teachers really went to bat for students last year. We have no F schools in the district. We're very proud of that," says Lemoine.

Bunkie High School was the most recent school with an F rating. Lemoine says that about 80 students returned this year as a result of the good news.
