The Tropical Atlantic is quieter now after a recent brief surge in activity. In fact, former disturbance 94-L has become so disorganized that it has lost its designation. The remainder of the week looks inactive with no named storms expected to develop through Thursday.
In the longer term, the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) is expected to contribute positively to tropical cyclone formation next week and to the end of August. Therefore, another increase in the activity level may well be possible then.
I'll post another update tomorrow.
