Victim of Lafayette shooting from Pineville

LAFAYETTE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have identified the victim in Sunday's early morning shooting as Connie Burch, 51, of Pineville.

According to Lafayette Police Department, detectives responded to a person shot on Madeline Avenue in Lafayette.  When officers arrived they found 51-year-old Burch on the sidewalk, shot.

Detectives said she died from a single gunshot wound.

Detectives are looking for a "person of interest" in the case. Detectives say, they are looking for a black male, with a dark complexion, and dreadlocks.  Witnesses say the man was last seen wearing a white muscle shirt with red shorts leaving Madeline Avenue on a bike.

The shooting is believed to have occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 337- 232-TIPS.
