Roast Pork Fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Six and a half pounds of slow roasted pork were served up for a good cause.

After spending 13 hours in a cherry wood smoker, the pork shoulders were sold to benefit Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Thompson Home Health in Alexandria cooked the pork shoulders and the orders will go towards funding breast cancer research, something those at Thompson Home Health say is a cause they can stand behind.

"We're doing the race for the cure, so we're participating in the race, we're trying to do all that we can to try and raise funds for the cause so they can keep going strong and just kind of give back, it's a great way for Thompson Home Health to give back to the community."Said Heather Roy.

All of the pork shoulders were pre-ordered but Thompson Home Health plans on holding another smoked pork fundraiser September 27th.
