The Atlantic Basin continues to be inactive today. A weak trough of low pressure is producing a disorganized area of cloudiness and convection over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. Movement is toward the west at 10-15 mph. Development of this system is not expected.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin, tropical cyclone formation is not expected through the weekend. Next week and into early September, however, conditions for tropical cyclone formation are expected to become more favorable.
I'll have an update Friday.
