Four arrests made in Alexandria shoplifting investigation

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) APD make four arrests in connection with shoplifting incident. 

On August 24, Alexandria Police arrested Norman Coty, 19, of Alexandria. Coty was charged with one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm and one count of Theft by Shoplifting. At 3:50 p.m. APD officers were dispatched to JC Penney located at 3437 Masonic Drive in reference to a reported shoplifting. Officers were advised that the suspects were still in the parking lot in a red vehicle. Police said officers made contact with the suspects and took them into custody. The investigation found that during a search incidental to arrest, Coty was found to be in possession of a handgun.

Police said three other arrests were made in this incident. Darrenisha Danelle Jacobs, 19, of Alexandria was charged with one count of Theft of Goods. Mark Russell Thomas, 31, of Alexandria was charged with one count of Theft of Goods. A Juvenile was also arrested in connection with the above incident. This incident is still under investigation and no other details are being released at this time.
