A routine patrol leads to a drug arrest

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5 ) –A routine patrol and consensual pat-down leads to cocaine in one man's pocket.

According to Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, they have arrested Keith James Lemott, 40, of Alexandria, for crack cocaine and resisting arrest.

Deputies were patrolling near Rosedale Apartments in Alexandria due to recent complaints of narcotics in the area.  Deputies said they observed a subject, Lemott, standing in front of a vacant apartment. Deputies spoke with Lemott and conducted a pat-down.

Deputies said they recovered seven pieces of crack cocaine in his front pocket. Lemott attempted to flee and resist arrest.  There was a struggle, between deputies and Lemott, but he was finally taken into custody.

He was charged with Possession of CDS II and resisting arrest.

Lemott was transported to Rapides Parish Detention Center.  He was later released on $5,250bond.
