Lockdown Friday at Marksville High and Elementary School

UPDATE:  According to authorities, the suspect was a relative of the secretary at the school. The suspect was said to have walked in the building and asked the secretary for money, but when she said no he allegedly threatened her.

He was then said to have left and the secretary called authorities. From there, Marksville High and Elementary issues a"Code Red" to put the school on lockdown.  

Shortly afterwards, the children were allowed to be dismissed from school.

Marksville High and Elementary Schools were put on lockdown Friday morning when a man was said to have come  into the school and threatened a secretary, according to Superintendent Dwayne Lemoine.

No description of the suspect has been released at this time.

UPDATE: According to Police Chief Ellis Walker, children are being released from school.  No update on whether the suspect has been captured. 

Marksville High and Elementary Schools were put on lockdown on Friday morning when a man was said to have come come into the school and threatened a secretary, according to Superintendent Dwayne Lemoine. The man was also said to have a weapon, but we are not sure at this time what the weapon was. 

No description of the suspect has been released at this time.

UPDATE: The school remains on lockdown at this time, but we are told the children are safe!

According to Superintendent Dwayne Lemoine, a man walked into the school and threatened the secretary with some sort of weapon, but at this time we are not sure what type of weapon.   The man is said to have left the campus, but the school will remain on lockdown until he is apprehended.

A description of the suspect has not been release at this time. We will let you know more as we know more!

MARKSVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) –Marksville High and Elementary are on lockdown.

According to Superintendent Dwayne Lemoine, a man came to the high school campus this morning and threatened the secretary. At that time they called Marksville Police Department and Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office. 

The schools has been placed on lockdown while law enforce enforcement secure the campuses.

Lemoine says everyone on both campuses is safe at this time. 

KALB News Channel 5  has sent a reporter to the campuses.  We hope to have more details soon.
