Two Firefighters Hurt Battling Atlanta Airport Fire

ATLANTA, GA. (AP/NBC) — Authorities say two firefighters have been hurt while battling a fire inside one of the terminals at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International airport.

Atlanta Fire Rescue spokeswoman Janet Ward tells The Associated Press that the fire early Tuesday morning involved an escalator. She said two firefighters have been taken from the scene with injuries she describes as minor.

Airport officials say the fire broke out around 5:00 a.m. Eastern Time, in the motor of an escalator leading from an airport train to Concourse T. The fire filled the train level of the concourse area with smoke.

There are no reports of any other injuries.
