Police: 16-year-old shot in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Police in Shreveport say a teenager was hit during an exchange of gunfire at a park.

The 16-year-old boy was seriously injured, with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to the LSU hospital and is expected to survive.

A police news release said officers were called about the shooting at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators believe the teen was shot while at Mamie Hicks Park, a few blocks away from where he was located.

Police believe gunfire broke out between two groups of people gathered at the park. The reason for the gunfight wasn't known.
