ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – A warrant was issued by detectives for a man already behind bars for a different crime.

According to Alexandria Police Department, they have arrested 29- year-old Lonnie Sanders, of Alexandria, for burglary.

Officers said they were dispatched to a residence in Alexandria, on July 3, 2013, in reference to an ongoing investigation. The victim reported Sanders forced his way into the home and took a cell phone.

The investigation led detectives to secure a warrant for Sanders arrest. Detectives said they located Sanders on August 4, at the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He was said to be behind bars for charges not related to the July 3 investigation.

He is charged with one count of simple burglary.

The investigation is ongoing.
