APSO: Bunkie man arrested for 17 counts of burglary

BUNKIE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – A Bunkie man has been arrested and charged with 17 counts of burglary.

According to Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office, they have arrested Marvin Ponthier Jr., 20, for a series of burglaries that allegedly occurred between July 24 and August 19.

Ponthier is suspected of breaking into five storage units and damaging one in the Fifth Ward community and another 12 storage units in the Marksville area by cutting the locks and gaining access.

Sheriff Doug Anderson of APSO, said that deputies recovered custom rims, saddles, tools and assorted personal items.

Ponthier was booked into the Avoyelles Sheriff's Office DC #1 on the 17 counts of simple burglary, 18 counts of criminal damage to property and one count of illegal possession of stolen things.

Bond was set at $173,500.
