Harvey man arrested for allegedly distributing child pornography

BATON ROUGE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - A Harvey man was arrested on Thursday  and charged with violating Louisiana statutes against pornography involving juveniles. This is according to the Attorney General's High Technology Crime Unit.

According to a release from the Attorney General's office, agents arrested Dejohn Joseph Downs, 23, of Harvey, after a joint investigation by the Louisiana Attorney General's High Technology Crime Unit, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security Investigations.

Downs was charged with seven counts of distributing pornography involving juveniles.  Additionally, he was charged with two counts of possessing child pornography by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. 

Downs was booked into the Jefferson Parish Jail.  If convicted, he could face up to 20 years behind bars on each count.
