I still have a couple of things to talk about in the Atlantic Basin.
Disturbance 99-L has developed into Tropical Depression #8. The depression is located about 20 miles west of Tampico, Mexico. Movement is toward the WSW at 6 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 35 mph. The depression will weaken as it moves farther inland over Mexico. Rainfall up to ten inches is possible across the States of Veracruz and Tamaulipas. This heavy rain may cause flash flooding and mudslides.
The remnants of Gabrielle continue to the north of the eastern part of the Dominican Republic. Regeneration of this system is possible and I'll continue to watch it.
A strong tropical wave will emerge off the west coast of Africa on Saturday. Most of our forecast models show development of this system. I'll keep watching this one as well.
