ALEXANDRIA, La.(KALB News Channel 5) – It isn't every day that deputies can say they chased a man down throwing plastic bags containing suspected marijuana out the window of an SUV.

However, that's apparently what happened to deputies at the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.

According to RPSO, they arrested Joseph Brandon Dodd, 36, of Alexandria, on Friday, after he refused to stop his SUV for deputies and led the deputies on a pursuit.

Deputies were dispatched to Leland Street and Fourth Street due to various complaints of narcotics activity. Deputies said they observed a black SUV backing up against traffic, and they attempted to speak with the driver. However the driver fled the scene and deputies pursued the SUV.  Deputies said they observed the driver throwing plastic bags out the window.

Dodd eventually stopped the vehicle at the corner of University and Ninth.  Deputies asked the driver to exit the SUV and he refused. Deputies also said he resisted arrest and they had to tase the man.

The driver was identified as Dodd.  Deputies found suspected marijuana in the bags Dodd allegedly threw from the window of his SUV.

Dodd is charged with simple obstruction/roadway, three counts of running a stop sign, obstruction of justice, and flight from an officer, resisting an officer and possession of CDS I.

Dodd was taken to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.  His bond is set at $252,000.

This is not the first arrest for Dodd relating to drugs.  He was also arrested on August 6, 2013.
