There is some light activity in the Atlantic Basin:
1. The remnants of Gabrielle are not looking too impressive at the moment. Circulation is broad and poorly defined. It may potentially move into some favorable atmospheric conditions however chances are low (20%) that we will see any development into a tropical system within the next 48 hours. Even with development, an upper level trough along the east coast will prevent it from coming to Louisiana.
2. An area of activity is currently off the coast of Africa. There are some signs of organization and atmospheric conditions look favorable for the system. Development into a tropical depression may be possible in the next 48 hours (60% chance). This area is forecasted to continue toward the west. We will be monitoring this system in the coming days.
No development is expected within the next 48 hours elsewhere.
