Posted: Updated:

ANGOLA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On Sunday, September 8th at approximately 2:34pm Angola Correctional Officers working the front gate reported a suspicious vehicle approaching a retreating multiple times.

Shortly thereafter the vehicle crashed through the perimeter gate. Front Gate officers attempted to stop the vehicle by firing shots at it. LSP investigative staff were on hand since the initial report and pursued the vehicle until 2:57pm when the chase stopped as a result of a head on collision atop the levee circulating the massive grounds.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting and no life threatening injuries as a result of the crash. It was discovered that Floyd Tillman has two small children in the vehicle.

Warden Burl Cain states that "all is secure at the prison at this time and this incident chiefly occurred at the prisons perimeter. Investigations into the reasons why Tillman chose to come to the prison today are on-going."
