Man arrested for allegedly leading police on short pursuit

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) –An Alexandria man was arrested for allegedly refusing to exit a vehicle and leading officers on a short pursuit.

According to Alexandria Police Department, they arrested Charles C. Mullins, 29, of Alexandria, for allegedly refusing to cooperate with police and leading them on a short car chase.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, officers conducted a routine traffic stop.  They pulled Mullins over near the intersection of Eastwood and Rapides Street. Officers said he appeared to be driving recklessly in his white truck.

Officers asked Mullins to exit his vehicle. He allegedly refused, drove off and led officers on a short pursuit. He later stopped his vehicle near the 2600 block of Rapides.

He was taken into custody. A search found suspected marijuana on his person.

Mullins is charged with one count aggravated flight from an officer, one count of possession of CDS Sch I drug, one count of reckless operation of vehicle and one count of DWI. This is his second offense for DWI.

Mullins has been booked 53 times in the Rapides Parish system.
