ANOTHER HOT BEGINNING TO THE WEEK

Posted: Updated:

It's a new week but 9th same weather pattern persists.

Monday started pleasant with lows in the 60s. The nights are getting longer now and central Louisiana remains entrenched in a dry air mass. These two factors combined to produce the comfortable low temperatures this morning. Winnfield dropped to 64 degrees while Jena, Leesville, Pitkin, and Oakdale reported 65 degrees. The daily average is 68 degrees and the record low is 54 degrees set in 2011.

Daytime highs continued above the average of 90 degrees, with readings well into the 90s at most places. Bellwood hit 99 degrees while Simpson and Montgomery reported 98 degrees. The record high for the date is 102 set in 1907.

Little change in the weather pattern is expected Tuesday.
