Two men arrested in ongoing drug investigation

VERNON PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5 ) – Two Leesville men have been arrested for allegedly trying to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine.

According to Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, they have arrested Melvin "Boo" Morris Jr., 24, and Marquis D. William, 27, both of Leesville for attempting to distribute drugs in Vernon Parish.

The Vernon Narcotics Task Force began an investigation in early January of 2013, and traced illegal narcotics being sold in Vernon Parish to a source Shreveport. 

The investigation went on to lead to Morris and William. They are both being charged with criminal conspiracy to distribute cocaine and criminal conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Both are currently in custody within the Federal Judicial System.  They are being held without bond until trial.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Shreveport Office, and the Louisiana State Police were involved in the investigation.

The combined effort of these agencies has resulted in eight arrests state wide. 

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
