STILL HOT

Posted: Updated:

Above normal temperatures continued in central Louisiana Tuesday.

Morning low temperatures were seasonal, ranging from the middle 60s to the lower 70s. Bellwood, Winnfield, Oakdale, and Simpson reported 66 degrees for the lowest temperature in central Louisiana. The D.G. Hunter Power Plant in Alexandria went no lower than 72 degrees and Marksville reported 71 degrees. The daily average is 68 degrees and the record low is 56 set last year.

Afternoon highs remained well above the daily average of 90 degrees. Bellwood, Simpson, and Many hit 99 degrees while Opelousas only had 92. The record for the date is 102 set in 1905.

A few showers and thunderstorms developed during the afternoon and evening hours but the coverage was very limited, probably no more than 10%. The airport near Washington, Miss. received a good rain with 0.78 inches.

The weather pattern for Wednesday will offer us little change.
